Kramer Widow’s Apartments (Krameramtsstuben)

Grocers apartments which date back to 1620 to 1700 and are the oldest surviving residential buildings in central Hamburg. Built to accommodate widows of grocers prohibited from trading.

Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial

Calm, atmospheric and deeply saddening.  We arrived at the same time as a large group of teenagers who were on a field trip. Once iside the grounds , we never heard them and only saw them in the distance.

Last Night of the Hamburg Proms at the beautiful Laeiszhalle. Lots of British classics:  Elgar Pomp & Circumstance, Sea Shanties, UK National Anthem and of course the German National Anthem – Deutschlandied, which has always been a favourite National Anthem, but i never thought we would be singing along in a German city!
